Commande de Maurice Béjart à Gil Roman pour le 50e anniversaire de la compagnie, ce ballet est dédié à Venise, sur la musique d’Antonio Vivaldi. Cette suite chorégraphique met en scène quatre esprits qui hantent les vestiges d’une demeure aujourd’hui disparue.
Comme Nietzsche l’écrivait dans Ecce Homo: «Quand je cherche un autre mot pour exprimer le terme musique, je ne trouve jamais que le mot Venise.» Le Casino des Esprits nous entraîne dans la Venise rêvée par Gil Roman, au son lancinant de la musique du ‘Prete Rosso’.

Commissioned by Maurice Béjart for the 50th anniversary of his Company, this ballet is dedicated to Venice, with the music of Antonio Vivaldi. This choreographic suite sets the story of four spirits inhabiting the ruins of a lost city.
As Nietzsche wrote once in Ecce Homo: “When I seek another word for music I never find any other word than Venice”. “Casino des Esprits“ invites us to wander into Gil Roman’s dreamt Venice, through the haunting sound of the ‘Prete Rosso’.
